When my old DeWalt 1/2 impact drill broke, I needed a replacement. The brushless motor just stopped working, and the part cost almost as much as a completely new drill.
PriceLasso has a good guide on the best stores to buy power tools from, and they advise price tracking the drills you want and waiting for the price to fall during a sale.
It had my favorite hardware stores, including Home Depot and Ace. I didn’t want to buy a drill from Lowe’s since it’s farther away from my house in case I would have to return it later. I didn’t realize Best Buy also sold power tools, which was interesting, but I guess they are technically electronic.
I didn’t wait long for a price drop, and got it from Ace Hardware within a few weeks.
